LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Liberty Flames football team began the 2020 football season with their first practice of the fall season. Coming off of their first bowl appearance and win in the Cure Bowl. The Flames are having a fall practice unlike any other. According to head coach Hugh Freeze, the team is laying the groundwork for successful season in 2020.
“Truthfully we have to build up our physical endurance, because we have had some kids out with quarantine, and things like that. We are trying to make sure we are prudent by putting health, and safety first. So we have things spread out, and it feels a little bit like spring ball,” says Freeze.
The Flames open the season September 12th, at Williams Stadium against North Carolina A&T. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
