Sports

Virginia Tech nearly came back from a 20-point third quarter deficit but ended up falling short, losing 72-63 to No. 2 Louisville on Sunday afternoon.

The Hokies got within three in the final minute but free throws solidified the Cardinals’ victory, moving them to 23-1 this season.

Asia Durr scored 34 points for Louisville while Dara Mabrey led VT with 17. Virginia Tech is now 15-8 overall, 2-8 in ACC play.

The Hokies return to the floor Thursday for a road contest at Duke.
