LOUISVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — After getting swept by Notre Dame in the regular season, Virginia Tech softball defeated the Fighting Irish, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament behind a complete game performance by pitcher Keely Rochard.

The ACC pitcher of the year dealt seven strikeouts and allowed four hits to improve her record to 25-7 this season.

Cameron Fagan and Alexa Milius drove in runs in the first inning to give Virginia Tech the lead. Darby Trull and Emma Ritter added RBIs in the second and fourth respectively.

The Irish loaded the bases twice but couldn’t capitalize. The Hokies advance to the ACC semifinals on Friday and will face top-seed Clemson for a spot in Saturday’s championship game.
