The Virginia Tech wrestling team opened its season with the Hokie Open at the Berglund Center in Roanoke on Sunday afternoon.

Two Hokies took home titles including redshirt freshman Mehki Lewis, who won a junior world championship earlier this year. Lewis won the 165-pound division while freshman Mitch Moore won his final match by pin to take the 141-pound weight class title.

Zach Zavatsky and Hunter Bolen made the finals in the 184-pound division but decided not to wrestle each other.

Overall, 15 Hokies placed, with eight reaching finals in the season opener.
