High School Sports

LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — Rockbridge County Public Schools deciding Rockbridge County High Schools will not be participating in the VHSL winter sports season unless it is in a virtual environment, such as Forensics or the Scholastic Bowl.

School officials say they made the decision due to the extremely high spike in COVID-19 cases in the Rockbridge County area, as well as recommendations from the local Virginia Department of Health and the Central Shenandoah Health District.

In fact, as of Tuesday, Dec. 15, the school district says Rockbridge County is still in the highest risk category for new coronavirus cases.
