ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Five Patrick Henry seniors signed letters of intent to play at the next level, including two athletes who are headed to Division I programs.
Megan McGinnis, a two-sport athlete at PHHS in lacrosse and track and field, will stick to athletics at Duke.
“I talked to the coach at Duke. I loved the program. I loved the vision that he had and I loved the girls on the team, I thought it would be a great place to spend the next four years,” McGinnis said. “We’ve been waiting kind of a long time for this after getting some of the signing days canceled back in the fall so it’s really exciting just to see all the hard work that signed today have put in.”
David Ibanzi committed to play soccer at Virginia Military Institute.
“Things I want to do in the future, I want to be in the military and I see a great opportunity at VMI,” Ibanzi said. “It’s a great moment. I’m going to the greatest school in Virginia and I’m really proud.”
Patrick Henry’s other college commitments include Tynia Garvin, who will compete in track and field for the University of Lynchburg, Sean Medley, who will play football at Ferrum, and Lillian Holt, who committed to play softball at Randolph-Macon.
