Patrick Henry girls lacrosse cruises to region title as Savannah Derey surpasses 200 career goals

High School Sports

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Patrick Henry girls lacrosse captured the VHSL Region 5D championship on Thursday night after cruising to an 18-4 victory over Albemarle at Patriots Stadium in Roanoke.

Senior Savannah Derey scored 11 goals in the win, surpassing the 200 career goals mark. The achievement was even more impressive considering Derey missed part of her sophomore season because of an injury and her junior season was wiped out because of the pandemic.

Patrick Henry will play at home in a state semifinal on Tuesday.
