Hidden Valley’s Clouser signs NLI for beach volleyball at Stevenson University

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Hidden Valley senior volleyball player Madeline “Maddie” Clouser Thursday signed her National Letter of Intent to play beach volleyball at Stevenson University.
Stevenson University is a NCAA Division III school in Owings Mills, Maryland. Clouser has played for Head Coach Carla Ponn for the last 5 years and joined the Hidden Valley JV team as an eight grader. As a Varsity defensive specialist and right-side hitter, she helped the Titans win the District Tournament against Blacksburg High School in 2019. As a Varsity team captain, Maddie plays as an outside hitter and has contributed to their current 10-2 record. While at Hidden Valley High School, Maddie has been a member of the VA Sand National Beach Volleyball team and a previous member of Beach South in North Carolina. She has medaled in Beach Qualifiers where she earned a National bid to play in the AVP Beach Nationals in Atlantic City, NJ.
She took third place Silver at Nationals in 2020. She is coached by Kaleb Vandeperre, Liberty Men’s
volleyball, Women’s Beach volleyball, and VA Sand Head Coach. Maddie is the first beach volleyball
recruit in the Roanoke area. She will be joining the Stevenson University Mustangs, the first Division
III college to establish a beach volleyball program. She will be coached by Dave Trumbo, Head coach
of the Women’s Indoor and Beach Volleyball teams at Stevenson University. Maddie has been
accepted into Stevenson University’s Nursing program.
