ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The William Fleming Colonels are in the VHSL high school football playoffs for the second straight year. They host Harrisonburg Friday night at 7 in the Region 5D semifinals.
Fleming getting a home playoff game for the first time in more than a decade. In fact, it will be the first playoff game ever at Colonels Stadium. Colonels head coach Jemar Lovelace is putting his mark on the team as they are turning things around at the right time. “It is a big opportunity, we were lucky to go through the off season without many breaks. I think it has shown itself now that we are hitting our stride. We have had some full weeks of practice. We had three games in 9 days to start the season. So, we didn’t get those full weeks of practice in so we are just happy to be out here with the the great weather. It is an opportunity to spend more time with these guys to have a full week of practice,” said Lovelace.
