LYNCHBURG, VA(WFXR) — A special day for one of our former Friday Night Blitz Player of the Week. Wednesday afternoon at Heritage High School in Lynchburg senior quarterback Jaciere “Hov” Bateman signed his national letter of intent to play football at Bridgewater College.
This past season, Bateman helped lead the Pioneers to a 12-3 record and a share of the Seminole District title, the Region 3C crown and a spot in the Class 3 title game. For Bateman it is a day he has been looking forward to for a long time!
“It feels great knowing that I’m going to be playing next level football. I’ve been waiting on this moment since I was a child so it really feels good to put pen to paper today. Their coaches really showed a lot of interest and really wanted to go to where I’m wanted they definitely showed a lot of interest so I know that’s where I’m needed. I’m definitely in the quarterback competition for the spot but I’m all for it. I feel like this program means a lot to me coach Bradley brought me under his wing my junior year and gave me the license to do my thing and I appreciate him a lot. My mom and my dad have wanted me to do this since I was a child and I feel like they prepared me for this moment and I think they’re really happy for me,” Bateman
