FOREST, Va. (WFXR) – Last season, the Jefferson Forest high school football team was able to make it to the playoffs. The Cavalier’s run was cut short, they fell in the Region 4D quarterfinals to Louisa County 47-13.
Last year the Cavaliers were without quarterback Josiah Bell for the last few games due to injury. But this year, Bell is back at the helm of the offense, and ready to pick up where the team left off. Jefferson Forest isn’t just hoping to be physically tough, but mentally ready as well.
“Last season was definitely an improvement from the season before but towards the end of the year I broke my foot and I missed the last two games and I’m really looking forward to coming back and being 100 percent this year. When people think of the physical side of things but there’s another side of things the mental side of things and that’s probably the toughest trying to work on that,” said Bell.
Jefferson Forest head football coach JT Crews and his Cavaliers begin the 2023 season at home against Gretna on August 25. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
