ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A total of 12 schools in the Hardee’s Friday Night Blitz area have new head football coaches.

  • Matthew Deloach (Altavista):
    • This is coach Deloach’s first head coaching job, and replaces Andy Cox. He played high school football at Heritage and Jefferson Forest High School. Deloach was a walk-on at Liberty University. He was an assistant at Jefferson Forest and back in 2017 Deloach was the long-snapper coach over at Appomattox and Rockbridge County.
  • Chris Moore (Amherst County):
    • Moore’s first head coaching job was at VMI as an assistant. He coached in Lexington the past four seasons. The former Amherst County High School graduate replaces coach Bob Christmas.
  • Scott Mikowicz (Auburn):
    • This Scott Mikowicz first head coaching position. Previously he was an assistant at Auburn High School last season and he replaces David Seabaugh.
  • Hunter Shepherd (Cave Spring):
    • This Hunter Shepherd’s firs head coaching job. Shepherd is a former William Byrd High School football player. He played college ball at over at Averett University. Shepherd then took his talents back William Byrd as an assistant. In 2019 he became the defensive coordinator over at Staunton River High School. Shepherd replaces Nick Leftwich.
  • Bruce Devlin (Chatham):
    • Bruce Devlin was the head football and baseball coach at Princeton Day School in New Jersey. He’s won multiple state title’s in both sports. Devlin also worked at Averett University and replaces for head coach Joe Fielder.
  • Jamar Lovelace (E.C. Glass):
    • Coach Lovelace is a Lynchburg native and Brookville High School graduate. Later, Lovelace became an assistant at Brookville, then took his coaching talents to E.C. Glass High School. He then moved to Roanoke to become the head football coach at William Fleming High School (2018-22). In his 5 seasons with the Colonels his record is (19-32) with 3 playoff appearances. Lovelace replaces head coach Jeff Woody.
  • Zane Quesenberry (Fort Chiswell):
    • This is Zane Quesenberry’s first head coaching job. He’s a Pulaski County High School graduate and was an assistant for the cougars. He then became an assistant over at Auburn High School. He replaces coach Robert Thompson.
  • Joe Fielder (Martinsville):
    • Last season Coach Fielder was the head football coach over at Chatham High School. He 5-5 in his only season as the Cavaliers head coach. Fielder is a graduate of Northside High School and Ferrum College. He spent 14 seasons as a defensive coordinator at Magna Vista High School, and won a state title with the Warriors in 2014 and 2015. Fielder replaces coach Bobby Martin.
  • Shannon Taylor (North Cross):
    • This is Shannon Taylor’s first head coaching position at the high school level. Taylor was a long-time assistant with the Raiders and the former head boys basketball coach with North Cross. He played high school football and basketball over at Patrick Henry High School. Taylor also won a state basketball title with the Patriots back in 1992 He played college football at the University of Virginia and played in the NFL. He replaces coach Stephen Alexander.
  • Jeremiah Brockenbrough (Parry McCluer):
    • This is coach Brockenbrough’s first head coaching position. He was a long-time assistant and head wrestling coach at Parry McCluer High School. He replaces coach Troy Clark.
  • Kirkland Brown (Tunstall):
    • This coach Brown’s first head coaching position. He’s a former offensive coordinator and offensive line coach over at Averett University. Brown replaces coach Randy Hunsicker.
  • Nick Leftwich (William Fleming):
    • Leftwich spent two seasons as the head football coach over at Cave Spring High School. During his time with the Knights they went (9-12) with 1 playoff appearance. Before Cave Spring he was an assistant over at William Fleming High School (Lovelace). He’s a graduate of Salem High School and UVA Wise. He’s also spent time at Graham High School and Tazewell High School. Leftwich replaces coach Jamar Lovelace.
