MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Our next stop on the Friday Night Blitz preseason tour takes us down Highway 220 to Martinsville for a look at the Martinsville Bulldogs. The Bulldogs spring season was put on the shelf due to COVID. Even though head coach Bobby Martin is in his 3rd season with Martinsville, this will be his second year coaching the Bulldogs. COVID took away their spring season, but the dawgs are ready to get back on the field. “I think for me it was tougher for the kids. I have learned hot to adapt to stuff. Our kids really struggled. When you lose hope and you don’t have a future that is really hard. Even coming back. We are excited and they are excited. But they are still trying to figure out is it real is it not real. So it has been really tough for them. But we are doing baby steps trying to get caught up,” said Martin. “It was very tough just being inside and then coming out in the summer all dehydrated and stuff,. it was tough to get back in the groove. My goal as a team is to get into the playoffs,” said Martinsville senior Bryson Stokes. Martinsville opens up the season on September 3rd at home against the Glenvar Highlanders.
