ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — North Cross Sophomore Running Back Kamden Johnson earns this week’s Friday Night Blitz Player of the Week Award. Johnson scored 3 touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Roanoke Catholic last Friday night.
” We came into the week feeling good and prepared because it’s a rivalry and we worked hard all week. We got everything situated and the line block and everything just went from there. It felt pretty good it felt like a rec-league game just being out there scoring that much. Getting the ball it felt pretty good. Everything just went smooth. I model my game after the bigger backs but I try to mix in a little speed and agility and try to be different and everything like a Derrick Henry or Alvin Kamara mix. My brothers played in college my dad was good football player and they just always edged it on to me. It’s pretty cool you know. I got to go to their games and now we’re kind of flipping the script and they get to watch me. I’ve been wearing this since I was a little kid because my brothers wore it and I don’t know I really like the number and my birthday is the fourth so it goes along well. I love being a Raider and all the good players that came here. You get to meet them sometimes and you get to learn from them and it’s just a great atmosphere. I love Coach-A I would do anything for Coach-A he’s put me in a good position to be great. Since the first day that I just been all love. Coaches I’d do anything for they would do anything for me as well as my teammates the same way and it’s just a good program here. They’re my family you know. They come hard to work everyday. They lay it on the line for me as I do for them. Last year it made us closer due to COVID. Every week it was a new challenge and this year it just made us way better. I want to get better every week and take it day by day. At the end of this year I want to win a state championship ring so that’s the goal,” said Johnson.
