ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR) — Franklin County junior running back Jahylen Lee ran all over the field last week – not only did he find the endozne five times – he also accumulated 452 rushing yards on 41 carries and set a new school record in his teams win over Northside. Jahylen’s performance earns him this week’s player of the week honor.
“Coach just instilled that we need to be physical and just run the football and that’s what we usually do most of the time in practice and just gravitate it on the field. It was always in mind to start a new chapter, but I just wanted to win the game and do whatever it takes to win the game. Before we had our team meal coach had his birthday and he said that ‘you just need to give me 5 touchdowns’ and I was like I must give that to him then. There’s been a lot of ups and downs. There’s been a lot of injuries that have come into play and people have been quarantined but we just stick together. Just play for the seniors. After some of the guys that are seniors right now, they’re battling and may not play on the next level, and we just play for them. Coach Edwards has always said that we have that mentality and just trust the process in everything we do just let everything come to us and just go for whatever you want to accomplish in life. I play for my mom she’s done everything for me most of my life and I play for the guys in the locker room and the man up above and I instill that in me. The gospel and stuff like that. She just instilled that whatever you want in life you must go out and get it and that just stuck with me most of my time growing up. Every time I put on this Eagle jersey, I just give it my all and whatever we do ups and downs I just look at this jersey and it just means a lot to me,” said Lee.
