CHARLOTTE, NC (WFXR) — Former Virginia Cavalier defensive back Rondé Barber has been announced as a member of the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Honors class.
The Roanoke native and Cave Spring star won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Bucs and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this past summer. As a Cavalier, Barber was a three-time second- or third-team All-American and named the 1994 ACC “Rookie of the Year.” During his UVA career, he was a three-time all-ACC first-team selection.
Former Virginia Tech tight end Jeff King was also named to the 2023 ACC Football Honors class.
King was a 2004 All-America second-team selection by College Football News and a two-time All-ACC second-team selection. The Pulaski County native set a school record for touchdown catches by a tight end with 11. King also played on the Virginia Tech basketball team.
This year’s class will be celebrated during the ACC Football honors program in uptown Charlotte on Dec. 1.
