Evan Beck beats Mark Lawrence, Jr. at State Open of Virginia

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia Beach-native Evan Beck captured the 2021 State Open of Virginia with a birdie putt on the final hole, winning his second State Open title and his first since 2010.

Beck shot a final round 68 to finish 12-under, one shot ahead of defending champion Mark Lawrence, Jr. The former Hokie missed a birdie putt on the final hole, opening the door for Beck.

Beck hit four birdies on the back nine and won despite a bogey on the par four 15th hole, which allowed Lawrence to remain tied for the lead.
