Former VMI wideout headed to James Madison

Sports

From Lexington to Harrisonburg, a former VMI wide receiver has found a new home up Interstate-81.

Kris Thornton announced late Friday night that he will transfer to James Madison.

Thornton completed his sophomore season in 2018 with 87 catches for 1,004 yards and four touchdowns.

He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining with the Dukes but he’ll have to sit out this upcoming season because of NCAA transfer rules.

VMI finished last season with a 1-10 record while the Dukes are coming off a 9-4 record and run to the second round of the FCS playoffs.
