Over a decade after leaving his mark in Blacksburg as a receiver and return specialist, Eddie Royal has been named one of 14 honorees to the 2018 ACC Football Legends Class.

Royal, a native of Alexandria, Virginia, scored touchdowns in four different ways during his career — via reception, rushing, passing and punt return. He played for Virginia Tech from 2004-2007 and led the ACC in punt return average as a senior.

Two school records set by Royal still stands to this day — career punt return yardage (1,296) and career kickoff return average (23.5). Royal’s career punt return yardage still ranks first in ACC history.

After graduating with a degree in sociology, Royal was drafted in the second round by the Denver Broncos in 2008. He spent nine seasons in the NFL with three different teams before retiring in 2017.

Royal and the rest of the 2018 Legends Class will be honored in Charlotte on Friday, November 30 and at the ACC Championship Game the next day.
