The Danville Braves are just days away from their season opener, the 25th season includes a brand new team, who is being led by a new manager, who is very familiar to the area.
Just eight years ago Barrett Kleinknecht was wearing the Danville Braves uniform, and fast forward to 2018, and he’s back in it. In a different capacity, as manager.
“Brings back a lot of good memories. I’ve seen a lot of familiar faces. It’s pretty neat, David Cross is still here, you see Tiny walking around the clubhouse, but it’s going to be a lot of fun,” says Kleinknecht.
Kleinknecht isn’t the only one looking forward to the season.
“I’ve only known Kleink for a week and he seems like a phenomenal guy. I’m excited to pick his brain a little bit and see what I can learn from him to make myself a better player,” says Greg Cullen.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have him leading us. I met him and I’ve known him for a few years, he’s the kind of manager that you just want to play to win. You want to win when you have a guy like that, fights for his guys, and I couldn’t be more excited to play for him,” says Luis Gamez.
With the season opener just days away, the Braves are ready to get on the field. Taking on their rivals from down the road, the Pulaski Yankees.
“I’m really excited right now, probably have some butterflies leading up to the game, I’m just looking forward to getting out there after a few weeks off, and just seeing what the organization is all about,” says Andrew Moritz.
“There’s nothing like getting under the lights and really trying to beat Pulaski. I may not have played in the series but you hear about it,” says Greyson Jenista.
