BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia Tech guard Aisha Sheppard was the 23rd overall draft pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft.

Sheppard was selected by the Las Vegas Aces during Monday night’s draft. She becomes the sixth Virginia Tech athlete to be selected in the WNBA Draft.

The Alexandria, Virginia native is Tech’s all-time leader in games played and points scored. She also become the first VT athlete to be named All-ACC three times and additionally was named All-Tournament in Greensboro this season. She is also a two-time All-Academic Team selection.

Sheppard averaged more than 13 points per game and scored in double-figures 22 times with a high of 30 in a game against Tennessee this past season.

She also broke the program’s scoring record – her own single-season three-point mark and the ACC’s career three field-goal record in 2021-22.

Sheppard ended her career at the top all-time in the ACC with 402 three-pointers scored. She owns the top three single-season performances in that category at Virginia Tech.
