VMI picks up sixth win in seven games after defeating Furman, 76-67

LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — Jake Stephens scored a game-high 23 points for VMI as the Keydets defeated Furman, 76-67, in a Southern Conference contest on Saturday at Cameron Hall.

The Paladins led 36-30 at the half before sophomore guard Trey Bonham scored 16 points in the second half to propel the Keydets to their sixth win in seven games and improve to 2-0 in SoCon play. VMI used a 20-6 run over a seven minute period in the second half to get the victory.

Jalen Slawson scored a team-high 20 points for Furman and had seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

The Keydets return to the floor on Wednesday when they travel to ETSU for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
