LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — Greg Parham scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half as VMI earned a nail biting victory over Furman, 74-73, on Wednesday night at Cameron Hall.
The victory was VMI’s first over the Paladins since the 2014-15 season and snapped Furman’s five-game win streak.
“”They were hammering us on the boards. We were almost praying we would be able to get some defensive rebounds. We got some late,” head coach Dan Earl said. “They didn’t shoot a great percentage from three and I’d like to think it was somewhat our defense, but they had some open looks, so maybe it was a little bit of the basketball gods evening it out after ETSU shot unbelievable from three last game and Furman missed some shots today. I’m proud of the guys fighting and pulling this one out.”
The Keydets improve to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in SoCon play. VMI travels to Mercer on Saturday.
