BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The wintry weather expected in the Commonwealth this weekend has led to the postponement of Sunday’s game between Clemson and Virginia Tech. But on the bright side, that gives Kenny Brooks more time to celebrate his latest career achievement.
The Hokies women’s basketball head coach notched his 450th coaching victory on Thursday night in Durham when Virginia Tech defeated Duke 65-54.
“It proves that you have a lot of good people around you. Whether it is your coaches, players or administrators. They have been supportive to give you the opportunity and have the resources to put around you,” Brooks said. “But to be honest with you, you kinda lose sight of it because you are in a pandemic. I am hoping we get to play the next game. Once you are fortunate enough to be successful and have a win, you are on to the next one. At some point and time, when I am sitting on the lake this summer, I will reflect on it when it is all said and done it starts with the people around you.”
The win also marked a season sweep of the Blue Devils for the first time in Hokies’ program history.
Virginia Tech is set to return to the floor on Thursday, January 20 when it hosts Pitt at Cassell Coliseum.
