BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Tech Hokies are back in action and the 2023 college football season is here.
To make sure fans are prepared to see the battle, the Virginia Tech Athletics Department and campus police are reminding attendees of a few protocols.
Safety
Campus police want to remind all students and visitors that everyone will be required to walk through metal detectors. Virginia Tech will be using touchless walk-through detectors at the Lane Stadium gates. Entrants will have to remove items including belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes, or other small objects.
If you are bringing a bag, it must be clear and can not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12.” One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag, including a Ziploc bag or smaller, will also be allowed.
The following items will not be allowed into the stadium:
- Purses including clutches
- Coolers
- Briefcases
- Backpacks
- Fanny packs
- Cinch bags
- Luggage of any kind
- Computer bags
- Camera Bags
- Any bag larger than the permissible size

Get there early
Virginia Tech is advising all students and visitors to arrive early. The school says arriving close to when the game is about to start can cause longer wait times to enter the stadium.
Download your mobile ticket
One way that will help eliminate wait times, is making sure to download your mobile ticket to your wallet prior to your arrival. This will reduce the variable of not having strong WiFi around the stadium and not being able to access your ticket.
Ticket holders can download tickets on the HokieSports app in advance.
Parking
All potential parking spaces will be available on campus.
