UPDATE 9/9 at 4:30 P.M. BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — After hours of the Virginia Tech football game getting delayed, the Athletics Department has announced that the Hokies vs. Boilermakers game will restart at 6:15 p.m.
School officials say gates at Lane Stadium will open at 5:15 p.m.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Due to severe weather, the Virginia Tech and Purdue University game has been suspended.
On Saturday, Sept. 9 fans packed Lane Stadium in hopes to see the two teams battle; However, as rain began to fall, fans were asked to clear the stands.
The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced on social media that due to severe weather Saturday’s game is now suspended.
Fans are encouraged to seek shelter in the following areas:
- Cassell Coliseum
- Rector Field House
- Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility
