BLACKSBURG, Va.(WFXR) — If you win…they will come…that’s the case for the 2nd ranked Virginia Tech softball team when it comes to home games. The last Hokies home series was nearly a month ago against North Carolina. A packed house witnessed Tech sweep UNC. Playing in front of a big home crowd is a welcome sight for the Virginia Tech softball program.

“You know we go down to Alabama and their is 4,000 people. You go to Clemson it is 2,000 people. You go to South Carolina it is 1,500 and so when you come here and if you play in front of 200 people and your kids are saying What is going on? We are pretty good. There were probably 1,500-2,000 people here against North Carolina and the roars were something we haven’t heard here before. So, I have always been a believer that you win people will come out to watch you especially at Virginia Tech. They like a winner. So we just have to keep doing what we are doing. It was a big deal for us to play in front of that many people and hopefully in the series to come we will have as many,” said Virginia Tech head softball coach Pete D’Amour.

The next home series for the Hokies will be their Commonwealth Clash rivals in UVA. Game one of the three game set is Thursday at 6pm at Tech Softball Park.
