LOS ANGELES, Ca. – After advancing for the second time in program history to the Super Regionals, the Virginia Tech Softball team fell just short of the Women’s College World Series. The Hokies lost 6-0 to the Bruins in game 3 of the Super Regional.
Virginia Tech pitcher Keely Rochard finished the season with 348 strikeouts, while allowing five hits in four innings. Bruins pitcher Rachel Garcia allowed just two hits in seven innings, and finished with 13 strikeouts. UCLA’s Maya Brady hit a three-run home-run in the fifth inning to propel her team to victory.
UCLA now heads to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
