RADFORD, Va. (WFXR) — It is a growing trend in college athletics………..schools are producing broadcast of their athletic events for online or television. For some schools it is a bigger challenge than others. Radford University is starting a campaign to raise money for a broadcast trailer to assist in their broadcasts of the athletic events. The trailer would be an expansion of Highlanders Digital Broadcast Network.
“This is something we have been wanting for a very long time. We saw this as an opportunity to try to get a head start on raising the funds with that,” said Radford Highlanders Sports Information Director Nate Wise.
Wise said it can be a challenge to broadcast all of the RU sporting events especially when broadcasting equipment needs to be moved around to all of the Highlanders athletic facilities. Also another challenge comes if RU has sporting events going on at the same time….pushing the need for the trailer.
“The main benefits would be to stream more of our games on ESPN Plus to give a better learning experience to students at Radford University who are helping us out in those plans. Being able to give more exposure to Radford Athletics and our sidelines whether it is for fans or alumni or the general public to support the fan base and family all around the world,” said Wise.
Also playing a role in the highlanders broadcast is the Director of Broadcasting and the Voice of the Highlanders in Rick Watson and the Director of Digital Media David Shields.
