LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – For the first time this season, Liberty’s Darius McGhee has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Player of the Week. The honor comes after McGhee averaged 30.7 points in the Diamond Head Classic against Northern Iowa, Stanford, and BYU.
McGhee was sensational in Honolulu, Hawaii, as the senior was named MVP of the Diamond Head Classic.
McGhee rewrote the record book in Hawaii, setting the record for most points scored in the tournament scoring 92 points, breaking Buddy Hield’s record (Oklahoma, 2015) of 86 points. McGhee also set the record for most three-pointers made throughout the tournament with 15 three-pointers.
