SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — There was a special event Thursday at the Hidden Valley Country Club in Salem as the Roanoke Valley Hokie Club hosted their annual kickoff luncheon, with Virginia Tech head football coach Justin Fuente as the guest speaker!
More than 100 people were there for the event as they got insight from Fuente about the season ahead. Fans got the up, close, and personal meet and greet with the head Hokie!
Fuente was excited to interact with Hokie Nation.
“It is a blast. That is the cool thing and unique about Virginia Tech. There is a special love and affection, not just for football but for the university. To get to represent it and to get out and meet people that went to school there,” said Fuente.
The Roanoke Valley Hokie Club will be hosting two more football luncheons with Jon Laaser and Mike Burnop in October, as well as Bud Foster in November. The club will be hosting the basketball tipoff dinner at the Hotel Roanoke on Oct. 5 with with men’s coach Mike Young and women’s coach Kenny Brooks!
