CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — No. 7 Virginia Tech rallied from behind to defeat No. 11 Virginia, 7-5, thanks in part to a seventh-inning homer from Gavin Cross. The victory clinched the Hokies’ first series win in Charlottesville since joining the ACC in 2005.

The Cavaliers broke out to a 4-0 lead early before the Hokies scored seven unanswered. Cross broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh with a lead-off home run as Virginia suffered its first home series loss of the season.

Tech has now won seven consecutive ACC series after losing its first four conference games.

Sunday’s win also clinched the Commonwealth Clash trophy for Virginia Tech, marking the Hokies’ first multi-sport, head-to-head victory against rival UVA since 2018.
