TEMPE, AZ. – The Hokies defeat BYU 11-3 in five innings to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time since 2008. With the run-run in play, sophomore Alexa Milius hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth inning securing the Hokies Tempe Regional victory with no losses.
“I’m really speechless about it I thought we could do it. We have Keely, a good offense, a good defense, and we have good team chemistry but to do it on the road it’s hard in any regional,” says Virginia Tech softball coach Pete D’Amour.
Pitcher Keely Rochard threw another complete game holding BYU to just 3 runs on 6 hits. Next up for Virginia Tech, the Hokies will play the winner of the Los Angeles Regional.
