LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — After two straight winning seasons, the VMI Keydets football team has a strong outlook for the 2022 season. Before the spring and fall 2021 seasons, expectations for the Keydets weren’t high at all considering the program has had more losing seasons than winning seasons. With the recent taste of success in Lexington, the Keydets welcome the strong expectations on the program.

“You know when I cam in it was almost a losing culture. We had the mindset of lets just keeping it close. Let’s just try to put up some points play a respectful game. Now we are doing this week to weak. We expect to win every week. It is exciting. It is a great feeling and empowering to know that any week going into a game, we have a feeling we can win,” said redshirt junior quarterback Seth Morgan.

“I came in here like me and Seth and all of the seniors came into a losing program. We were not expecting to win. That freshman year we were kicking off close games and we won a bunch of them. Last season we ended it with three losses that really hit hard for us. We have the highest expectations for ourselves as the media votes us this low in the polls in the SoCon we don’t care because we know what we have and we have just gotta have a bunch of guys that care they are really bought in and this year should be really something special,” said senior linebacker Stone Snyder.
