LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — The VMI Keydets football team has a lot of local players in the squad and one of those local players is looking to make an adjustment this upcoming season. VMI junior Evan Eller of Lord Botetourt fame has spent the last two season playing in the defensive backfield. With a new defensive scheme, Eller now will be playing more linebacker. It is a role Eller embraces.
I was pretty big as a safety. Even last year, as I was playing around 210-215. I will still be able to move as well as putting in a new defense. I am still run fitting a lot and covering more like a coverage linebacker as well. It was basically what I played in high school as well,” said Eller.
Eller and the Keydets kickoff the season on September 1st in Winston-Salem against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
