Quin Houff prepares for the Daytona 500

Big Race - Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. (WFXR) — We’re inching closer to waving the green flag at the Daytona 500. When it comes to NASCAR drivers from Virginia, the name Denny Hamlin usually comes to mind.
But another competitor from the Commonwealth hopes to catch some attention on the track.
Quin Houff enters his second season as a full-time driver at the cup series level.
In his rookie year with StarCom Racing, Houff’s best finish came at Talladega where he cracked the top 15 — finishing 13th.
Houff says the biggest challenge he had to overcome last year was racing without the valuable experience of practice or qualifying and as he enters year two on the circuit, he hasn’t forgotten his Virginia roots.
“To be one of the few Virginia guys to be able to race at the Cup Series level is a humbling thing to be able to say and do and you know growing up, there’s so much history that I went through just in Virginia itself…South Boston Speedway for example, you have the Burtons there, the Sadlers there, so that sort of stuff is pretty special and I’m glad to be able to represent the Commonwealth another season at the Cup Series level…Heading into 2021, we got notes to lean on now, I’ve got some experience to lean on now so we should be able to hit the ground running that much better,” said Houff.
