ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Saturday afternoon the Hidden Valley Youth Sports Association held their first all county combine. Kids from ages 10-15 got the chance to put their skills to the test and train with professionals from N2Athletex based in the area.
The athletes got the chance to perform different drills like the shuttle run and the broad jump. The event was also about bringing the youth of the area together to take part in a special event that promotes healthy competition.
“It means a lot to see the kids want to better themselves because I know my kids are out here they’re wanting to get better and I think sometimes it takes a bit of a healthy rivalry to see what you’re peers are doing. It’s exciting because we know we’re starting something that’s going to last for a long time here in Roanoke and we had a good turnout today and we just know it’s going to grow for every year from now,” says Hidden Valley Youth Sports Association president John Dorlini.
The Association looks forward to holding the event next year.
