1st Ever Bedford Border Battle

Sports

Bedford, VA – Big time basketball going on in the town of Bedford over the next few days. The first ever Bedford Border Battle tournament is being held at Liberty High School. The tournament is organized by Liberty Minutemen head boys basketball coach Randy Dunton.
The tourney features teams not just from the commonwealth but also teams from our next door neighbor West Virginia.
For many of the coaches, being able to play up to the competition has been the greatest reward of the tournament. “You know sometimes when you go to team camps you see the same ole team you know. Here we’re seeing teams that we’ve never seen before or we’re never going to play again. They’re going to throw defenses and different offenses at you. Guys we normally play we know kind of what their habits are and what their tendencies are. Playing somebody brand new you guys have to react on the fly and it’s good to see your team do that,” said Cave Spring head coach Jacob Gruse. The tournament runs through Saturday.
