ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia Department of Elections reminds the Commonwealth that local election day is next Tuesday, Nov. 7.
The deadline to get ballots in is at 5:00 p.m. In order to vote, Virginia law requires all voters to provide either an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID confirmation statement at the polls. Voters arriving at the polls without an acceptable ID will be required to either sign an ID Confirmation Statement or vote a provisional ballot.
If a voter votes a provisional ballot, they will have until noon on Friday, Nov. 10 to deliver a copy of identification to their locality’s electoral board or sign an ID confirmation statement in order for provisional ballots to be counted.
Virginia’s ID requirements also apply to early voters who vote at the General Registrar’s Office or at a satellite voting location.
All local races will be covered by WFXR News on Election Day. Some key races to watch include Democrat Trish White-Boyd and Republican David Robert Suetterlein for a Virginia Senate seat representing District four, and Democrat Lillian Franklin and Republican Chris Obenshain to represent District 41 in the House of Delegates.
