Lynchburg officials release voter information for the upcoming November general election

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The general election is less than two months away, taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Any registered voter in Lynchburg may vote in the general election which includes races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Commonwealth Attorney and Constitutional Officers and House of Delegates for District 22 and 23.

Voters have four methods to cast their votes.

  1. Apply online or request an application to vote by mail. The deadline to apply for a Vote By Mail ballot is Friday, Oct. 22. Click here to apply or call (434) 477-5999. After applying, voters may check the status of their ballot by visiting the Citizen Portal which can be found by clicking here.
  2. Early Voting In-Person: In-person early voting begins on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Registrar’s Office at 825 Kemper Street, Suite A. Early voting will continue through Saturday, Oct. 30. The Registrar’s Office will be open for additional hours on Saturday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You do not have to have a reason to fill out an application to vote early. If you are planning to vote early, you are asked to do the following:
    1. Provide your name and address and show an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID Confirmation Statement
    2. Accessible equipmentand/or curbside voting is available on request.
  3. Ballot Dropboxes: Completed ballots may be dropped off in a secure box at the Registrar’s Office which will be available the same dates and times as the early voting hours listed above. For curbside voters, staff will come to the curbside for voters to drop off their ballots in the secure box. Additionally, secure dropboxes will be staffed by election officials at each precinct on Election Day.
  4. In-Person on Nov. 2: All precincts will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Those who have not yet registered to vote in Lynchburg or need to make a name and/or address change will neeed to fill out a voter registration application by Tuesday, Oct. 14.
