LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Primary elections will be held on June 8 and the City of Lynchburg is offering information regarding ways to vote.
Any voter in the city may vote in the statewide Democratic primary and any voters in the House of Delegates District 22 may vote in the Republican Primary for that district; however, voters may only vote in one of the two primaries.
Lynchburg voters have four options to vote in these elections.
Apply online or request an application to vote by mail
- The deadline to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot is May 28.

- Request a vote-by-mail application by calling the Registrar’s Office at (434) 477-5999
After applying, you can check to see if your absentee application was received and whether or not your ballot was sent and received by visiting the Citizen Portal.
Early Voting In-Person
In-person early voting begins Friday, April 23 at the Registrar’s Office and will continue through June 4. For your convenience, the Registrar’s Office will also be open on May 29 and June 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To participate in early voting:
- You do not have to have a reason to fill out an application to vote early.
- At the Registrar’s Office, you must provide your name and address and show an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID Confirmation Statement.
- Accessible equipment and/or curbside voting is available upon request.
Ballot Drop Boxes
Completed ballots may be dropped off in a secure box at the Registrar’s Office. The drop box will be available on the same dates and times as the early voting hours above. Staff will come to voters curbside for voters to drop off their ballot in the secure box. Additionally, secure drop boxes staffed by election officials will be available at each precinct on Election Day.
Voting In-Person on June 8
All precincts will be open for in-person voting on the day of he Primary Election on June 8 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you have not yet registered to vote in Lynchburg, or if you need to make changes to your name and/or address, you must file a voter registration application by May 17.
