LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg’s Director of Elections Christine Gibbons said a City Council race was originally called incorrectly due to an “input error.”

Gibbons explained to WFXR that when reporting the results for the Ward I City Council seat Tuesday night, she entered data into the wrong place. That error, she said, is why challenger Abe Loper was originally declared the winner.

When Gibbons realized her error, she said, she corrected the data entry. Incumbent Councilmember MaryJane Dolan was then declared the winner.
