WV Trooper in stable condition after early-week gunfight


POCAHONTAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WFXR) – Earlier this week, West Virginia State Police Trooper First Class J.M. Tallman was in a shootout with a suspect Monday evening in Pocahontas County.

It is now being reported that the shooter was 43-year-old William Biggs. He was killed when Tallman returned fire in the incident which begin when Sheriff J.P. Barlow was in the midst of investigating a car crash when the driver shot him in the stomach with a rifle.

Trooper Tallman was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where he is listed in stable condition.
