VINTON, Va. (WFXR)– Working out is a great habit, but even better when doing it for a good cause.
William Byrd High school’s final bell sounded today, and as groups of kids exited the doors of the high school, music began to play. The music was part of a Zumba class offered by the William Byrd International Club.
The workout consists of cardio-dance movements to energizing music.
The Zumba classes are organized by the WBHS International Club as a creative means to raise funding for the Roanoke Valley Women’s Turning Point Shelter.
Cherry Bell Damasco, an educator at William Byrd High School is also a certified Zumba Instructor and gladly accepted to be recruited for the positive community outreach initiative.
One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the class go to the Shelter. The fundraising class is only five dollars and open to the community.
