Roanoke, VA – The City of Roanoke has prided itself with assisting interns through a program called, ‘Get2knowNoke.’ Recently the city with the help of WFXR Sports intern, Taylor White put together a video to help promote the program. White, a rising senior at Shenandoah University spent the summer capturing video of dozens of interns working for their departments throughout the Roanoke valley. Thursday, White showed the video to leaders and mentors of the internship program for the first time.
The video showcases the City of Roanoke and how they offer many internship programs throughout the local government and other areas within the valley. The ‘Get2KnowNoke’ program not only gives interns a positive experience, but they also are put to work. Each intern gets the opportunity to get a taste of their field of study through the internship program.  Many interns participating in the internship program were offered jobs immediately after or before the program was even completed. The program also gives them a chance to network, make connections, and build long lasting relationships. City leaders feel there are many benefits of not only being apart of this internship program, but also with the quality of life in the City of Roanoke. Overall it took white 8 weeks to produce the video.
