ARLINGTON, Va. – While the Washington Nationals have reported to spring training, the team’s mascots are out practicing their preseason cheer in a different way.

For the third year in a row Tom, Teddy, and Abe came out to Market Common Clarendon to celebrate Presidents Day weekend with fans.
The event included free hot chocolate, costumes of past presidents for people to take pictures with, and presidential trivia for the kids.
Market Common Clarendon officials say it’s an entertaining way to get kids to learn about our past presidents.

It’s originally to celebrate both Washington and Lincoln, but its really turned into a recognition to all of our past presidents and we really want to make sure that kids and families particularly kids learn what our presidents have done for us,” said Hilary Shure, Market Common Clarendon Marketing & Events Manager.

The event also included a race between the three presidents, a practice run before the season starts.
