VSP investigating after fatal car crash in Pittsylvania County

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) Virginia State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality.

The crash happened Tuesday night on Route 40, just west of Route 630 in Pittsylvania County.

Police said a Mini Cooper was traveling east on Route 40 when the vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway and hit a 2003 Cadillac Escalade head-on.

Edwin Samuel Wilson, 67, was driving the 2008 Mini Cooper and was not wearing his seatbelt. Officials said he died at the scene.

There is no information on the driver of the 2003 Cadillac at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
