ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Keeping people physically fit is the mission of local U.S. Marine Veteran Anthony Ferguson.

Ferguson said his commitment to physical fitness and his four years in the Marines in the late 1990s serving his country went hand in hand with what he is doing today.

“In a way, I found something that I could still serve in and it wasn’t exactly that I did think the path and fitness gives me the chance to help the community and helpful is something that can make an impact,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson along with his wife established Ferguson Fitness here in Roanoke back in 2010.
He said his workout facility is not considered a gym, it is more of a lifestyle to keep people physically fit.

“With our ability to help people, we do not have hundreds of people coming through. So we take the time to work with an individual about their goals and things they are concerned about and take them through the journey. Ok this is something we are going to do together and we are going to have great teammates for you to go through it together and it makes the whole process simpler and more welcoming,” said Ferguson.

With his life after the Marine Corps, Anthony is proud of where he is today.

“It is still kind of surprising you know sometimes when I meet someone new and they ask me what do you do. They are like um well I get to help people exercise and feel better. I don’t kind of magnify how big of an opportunity it is so it is really amazing that I get to do this. Every day when I wake up and I get to do what I get to do. I do not think about it as work,” said Ferguson.
