ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – WFXR News has learned that the Hokie Bird that was removed from the grounds of Hotel Roanoke has been found.

Authorities located the statue off the side of a road in Charlottesville.

The pledge class of Sigma Nu fraternity allegedly stole the Hokie Bird statue from the Hotel Roanoke on Wednesday.

Tim Miller, the Vice President of Student Affairs said in a statement to WFXR News, “On behalf of JMU, I would like to apologize to the Hotel Roanoke, the artist who created the statue, and to all of Hokie Nation for the failure of leadership within this chapter that led to the thoughtless actions of these individuals. Activities like this have no place in JMU organizations and we expect more from their members and the students elected to lead them.”

As of Friday evening, the statue was en route back to Roanoke.
