CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — There is still no arrest in the case of two Virginia Tech students who were shot to death in Montgomery County back in 2009.

Officials say the total reward amount is now $100,000.

A team of law enforcement officers will take a fresh look at the evidence.

Officials say they have DNA and are working to take advantage of 10 years worth of science and technological advances in DNA testing and criminal databases.

August 26, 2019, marks 10 years since 18-year-old, Heidi Childs, and 19-year-old, David Metzler, were shot and killed in the parking lot of Caldwell Fields in Montgomery County.

Both were sophomores at Virginia Tech University, who met before college through their church youth group. They were both accomplished athletes, played guitar and sang, and came from close-knit families from Campbell and Bedford counties.

Anyone with information on the deaths of David Metzler and Heidi Childs is asked to call 540-375-9589 or go online to VSPUnsolved.com.
